There’s never a dull moment when Ninja Man is on stage. Ask any true Dancehall fan about Ninja Man’s stage prowess and they will tell you he’s one of the best in the biz.
The legendary DJ was in fine form when he performed at the Jamaica International Kite Festival which took place on the Shazz Entertainment Grounds in Priory, St Ann on Easter Monday.
Taking the stage sometime after midnight, Ninja Man and several members the Downsound Force delivered a performance that will be long remembered by the people of St Ann.
Ninja Man opened his set with his hit, I’m Ninja Man, which elicited thundering forwards from the crowd. Before going into his second song he said, “New tune, mek mi hear yuh sey new tune,” and the crowd responded by shouting, “New tune!” He obliged their request by performing a new song called These Words, much to the delight of the crowd.
Biggest forwards
After that, he introduced Specialist onstage, who ‘bussed’ the place with songs such as Street Hustle and Gallis Anthem. They were soon joined onstage by Don Husky, who received one of the biggest forwards of the night when he performed the popular street anthem, On and On.
Next up was Naazir, who challenged Ninja Man to be a real Ninja. Ninja Man responded to the challenge by doing a backflip which excited the crowd. Naazir also did a quick backflip, adding more excitement to the proceedings. Before Naazir exited the stage, he reeled off a couple songs that received good response from the crowd.
More flavour
Next up was the beautiful Ishawna who appeared on stage looking like Marilyn Monroe. Performing her big hit song with Specialist called Do For Love, she kept the vibes going. Not to be left out, Ninja Man stepped in to add more flavor to Ishawna’s act, and together they bussed the place.
After Ishawna and Specialist left the stage Ninja Man brought Nature onstage. The diminutive singer who hails from Montego Bay showed why he is one of the hottest new singers around. Performing songs such as World Peace, Trying Man, No Gun Around, Mama Africa and Come Back Home he gave the crowd an awesome performance.
Downsound Records CEO Joe Bogdanovich is extremely happy about the performance of Ninja Man and the DSR Force in St Ann.
“What can you say about Ninja Man? He’s just brilliant, every time he goes on stage he delivers an awesome performance.
His performance at the Kite Fest was surely one of the best I’ve ever seen. I’m also very pleased with the way the other members of the DSR Force handled themselves. Don Husky, Specialist, Ishawna, Naazir and Nature they all did well. Nature showed his versatility by performing and standing out on an event that featured mainly dancehall acts and held his own among them and really stood out. This what Downsound is all about – good quality, fun, entertainment,” he said.
